Vanessa Pope

Vanessa Pope is a dramaturg interested in systems for storytelling, interaction and expressive performance in new media, from voice interfaces to virtual reality. Drawing inspiration from quantitative analysis of music performance, Vanessa’s current research focuses on the systematic and computational analysis of the actor's craft. This includes research on actor movement for virtual reality with BBC R&D and the structure of performed speech for her thesis “That’s What She Said." In 2020, Vanessa was on the program committee for The Future of Storytelling with Augmented Reality creative challenge, organised by Snap Inc., BBC R&D and Microsoft Research for IMX conference.
